The Monastery of El Escorial was built under the reign of the powerful King Philip II to be a Residence for the Kings, Monastery and Pantheon of the Royal Family, becoming a symbol of the great power of the Spanish Empire at the time.The Monument was declared of Artistic and Historic interest, and "Mankind Heritage". The visit includes the Monastery, the Cloister of the Four Evangelists, the Palace of Philip II, Pantheons of the Royal Family, the Chapterhouses and the Basilica.
As long as the conditions make it possible, we will make a stop at the Basilica of the Valley. There, after the explanations of our guide from the outside, you will have free time to contemplate this magnificent architectural monument, take pictures and admire the wonderful views of the Sierra de Madrid. After 30 minutes approximately, we will continue our journey back to Madrid.
Back in Madrid, this extensive tour will give you a very accurate idea of the city. During aprox. 3 hours we'll see the most important buildings, avenues and squares with an expert official guide who will explain about the monuments and its history.
We will visit Gran Via, Plaza de Espania, University, Moncloa, Habsburg old quarter, calle Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Puerta de Alcala, the Bullring, Columbus Square with a brief stop at Madrid Hard Rock Cafe for a free soft drink refreshment, Paseo de la Castellana and the Real Madrid Stadium Santiago Bernabeu, Plaza de Castilla, Fountain of Cibeles and back to the starting point.
