Tour Route
AVILA
The quiet walled-in town of Avila has a warring and mystical background. The walls were built in the eleventh century. Sta Teresa de Jesus, a great mystic woman of the Catholic Church, was born in this city which conserves the most ancient and complete fortified complex in Spain (XI century). Its 2500 m wall and its 90 fortified towers surround the old city, which houses great part of its monumental treasure including a large number of Romanesque style churches, gothic palaces and a fortified cathedral of the XII century. We will visit the San Vicente church and Cathedral (outside).
SEGOVIA
The roman empire left in Segovia one of the best monuments within the Iberian Peninsula: the Acueduct, it has 118 Arches and is 16 kilometres long, out of which there are only 728 metres visible. It was residence of some of the kings of Castilia and preserves one of the most important medieval group of buildings in Spain. Besides amongst its monuments the Cathedral of late gothic style also called "The lady of Cathedrals" due to its elegance and luminosity. The Alcazar, a beautiful and world famous castle located over a magnificent rock, it brings us back to Medieval tournaments and heroic knights.
